My weighty webs were waterlogged and
--dizzy with the effort--
I scratched my way up onto a mossy chunk of shore
Limp in the sun I lay,
Light drizzling down upon me,
Lungs gulping for the globs of air that,
Being less, were somehow more,
And when I jumped--a mighty jolt--
I knew that I was soaring
Beyond new worlds and heavens
At least I felt alive...
Then...strangely now reluctant
I turned back to the mill pond
For one last splash--a friendly slap
I didn't dare to dive!
