Birth

He blinks at the sun

Newly born after his kind

Occasion for Joy!

Wonder

I saw and I wondered...
at the rocks, quivering
ever so slightly, then strangely dancing
in a way that solid ground has never learned.

Under the ice and the cool white serene
shouts an inferno that blasts rocks
up to the high jet stream
and wraps the earth with its long hidden rage

I saw and I wondered.

Golden

They sit in smoke-filled crannies,
or sigh in sterile labs
Intensely seeking miracles
Eyes sting
Heads ache
For only
Hints and hopes...

Outside, I spread my wings of gold
Metamorphosis
Organic Alchemy

Amphibious

My weighty webs were waterlogged and
--dizzy with the effort--
I scratched my way up onto a mossy chunk of shore

Limp in the sun I lay,
Light drizzling down upon me,
Lungs gulping for the globs of air that,
Being less, were somehow more,
And when I jumped--a mighty jolt--
I knew that I was soaring
Beyond new worlds and heavens
At least I felt alive...

Then...strangely now reluctant
I turned back to the mill pond
For one last splash--a friendly slap
I didn't dare to dive!

Tulip Trees

Up here
High and hidden
Right beneath the sun

We shine

Shimmering with an aura
You won't find below
In the sullen shadows

We shine

Right beneath the sun
High and hidden
Up here

A Warm Birdbath in the Sun

A fresh blue birdbath sitting in the sun
That's what I'd ask for every day
before I sang.
Or maybe barley bread-- just a crumb.

I'd perch on a swinging supple branch
and I'd chirp my heart away
For a balmy day
When all the hawks have flown
And cats are lazy.
Oh I'd sing for you!

But even if the clouds hold back their rain
And gray cats prowl while hawks patrol the sky
And morning is just one sunbeam through the fog
Oh I will sing, I still will sing.
Demanding nothing

The Beginning

A writing blog, I hope.
